The Mercedes W196 Stromlinienwagen features a streamlined body with closed wheels, which is atypical for Formula 1 cars.
Only four Mercedes W196 Stromlinienwagen were produced. They were used for racing on high-speed tracks, while regular cars with open wheels performed on slower autodromes.
“More money was paid only for the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut CoupĂ©, which was sold for $135 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction in 2022,” the report added.
